Dione, merry-go-round pony by Woosie Dione, merry-go-round pony by Woosie
This pony was actually stolen after winning 1st place in the 2005 My Little Pony convention's custom contest. I never saw it, my ribbons, or prize after the convention. About a month ago I did receive replacement ribbons, a plaque and a lovely replacement prize from the convention coordinators and I thank them again :) Now on to the pony. She was made in the style of the G1 Merry Go Round My Little Ponies, in that she has a carousel saddle and little sculpted bits on either side of her neck. This one was done a while back so I hadn't gotten into the habit of repainting eyes yet, but they matched so it wasn't a problem. The pony was a G3 Moondancer that I rerooted with Katsilk hair in Noir and Sapphire Blue. The saddle, sculpted out of Apoxie Sculpt, has a scene of outer space depicted on it, with saturn and a few of it's moons on the display side and Earth with the moon on the other. Shooting stars frame the entire saddle and the neck pieces.

it's a two part apoxie clay like substance, mixed together in equal parts it hardens on it's own through chemical reaction, no baking required. Get it at www.avesstudio.com

Oh my goodness...that's so terrible..though I'm not surprised someone would steal one of your ponies, and this one is fantastic...but geez..stealing a custom is almost as bad as committing murder it's so wrong!!! argh

It's a shame this pony was stolen. She's too beautiful. I'm thinking of trying out MLP customizing. I'm impressed and inspired.

I'm so sorry she was stollen. Where are these MLP custom conventions. I'd like to take some of my customs to one in a few years (if I have any fingers left then). I usualy get so attached to my customs I just end up keeping them. What kind of clay do you use for saddles, unicorns and such. I tried sculptey but it came right off after a few days. My friend made a unicorn and the horn came off twice. A lot of customizers say something called Expoxy is the best, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks for your help.

Apoxie Sculpt and Apoxie Clay from [link]. I introduced it into the my little pony customizing communities about 2 years ago and most people use it now. With ANY modeling compound though you MUST put use something like a wire or such that goes into the pony's head and mold the horn around that. That prevents them from falling off. Simply sculpting the horn directly on the forhead or gluing it on is not sufficient.

There are 2 conventions for My Little Pony collectors every year that are fairly large...the MLP Fair that is held in a different USA city every year and the International My Little Pony convention that is held in Europe. The sites for these conventions are: [link] and [link] The upcoming MLP Fair in 2007 will be in Memphis, TN

I use galvanized steel wire...18 gauge I think it is. Any wire will work that is sturdy but still flexible enough to work with.

Such an awesome pony... It's really too bad there are people in the world who feel that they =must= take what isn't theirs. Such a lovely little dear shouldn't belong to a thief.
