G3 Braided Beauty little pony by Woosie G3 Braided Beauty little pony by Woosie
This custom My Little Pony is a G3 version of the 1980's pony of the same name. She was made as a private commission for Kytty. The base pony was a G3 My Little Pony named Poinsettia. I rerooted the mane and tail with nylon hair in colors to match the original 80's pony. The pony's symbol was removed with laquer thinner and a new symbol painted on with acrylics and sealed. The eyes were also repainted and sealed. The wings were made of Apoxie Clay hand sculpted over a wire base that goes into the pony's body for stability. They were then painted and sealed. The tiara is removable and made from beading wire, Swarovski crystals in pink, clear and green and small white seed beads.

Oh my goodness I HAVE THAT PONY! She's hidden in a box in the depths of my closet, and yours has a much nicer mane and tail than mine does...but I have her! Forgive my gushing, I'm reliving an old love for ponies.

what a perfect idea. my braided beauty was in mint condition.........before I accidently stood on her during a house love and broke her head.....now she is headless......anyone know how I can fix her so she can still work? turny head etc?

She was gorgeous...

This G3 is gorgous.....love to see her done in 'starcatcher' pose :)

Each feather is applied individually. I layer them one by one over each other and put in the veining with a small needle.

lots and lots of patience, lol. Seriously though, I string a heavy duty wire through the body at the shoulders, shape into the basic shape of a wing then cover with a thin layer of Apoxie Clay all over. After that hardens I go over the wing with the individual feathers one at a time layer upon layer. After that hardens I go over it with a coat or two of gesso, some acrylic paint and a good waterbased polyurethane sealant.

it's amazing you can keep the wings up..and that must be a very thin first layer
another beautiful job :) she looks wonderful

Yeah, the first layer is very thin, and while it dries I hang the pony upside down so the Apoxie sort of...sags. That gives the inside of the wing a nice outward flowing shape. Once it has hardened it's very strong though ;)
