G3 Paradise pegasus pony by Woosie G3 Paradise pegasus pony by Woosie
This is a custom My Little Pony named Paradise. She won 1st place in the Hasbro Inspired category of the customs contest at the '08 My Little Pony fair in Providence, RI. She is a G3 custom based on the oringinal 1980's My Little Pony character of the same name. She was made from a White Blank Pony from Hasbro. I rerooted her mane and tail with a blend of orange and hot pink saran hair. Her wings were completely hand sculpted with Apoxie Clay over a wire frame that goes into her body for stability. The wings, eyes and symbol were then painted with acrylics and sealed for protection. She was sold at the MLP Fair to WingedFantasy, the founder of the convention.

this is really one of my favorite custom mlps on dA!
She's truly beautiful~ you have a wonderful hand for sculpting, and I love the color combination.
Do you do concept sketches or any type of "rough draft" before you start the actual pony? The colors on your customs always match beautifully, and the shape of their wings and designs on their hindquarters are always lovely. And speaking of the wings *_* I can only imagine how long all that detail took.
I've also seen you do corsets and sock/shoes on your ponies... does the clay that you use air dry, or does it require baking? I just can't wrap my head around how you do it! It all fits the ponies perfectly!
you're truly great at sculpting!

I use Apoxie Clay or Apoxie Sculpt for all the sculpted bits. It's a two part substance that you mix together in equal amounts and it hardens through chemical reaction in a couple of hours to nearly rock hard. So no baking :D For mor info check out [link]

I rarely do concept sketches unless it's something crazy detailed (like the Jack Sparrow pony) or I have to fit a lot in a tiny space and want to figure out how to make it fit well (like with the merry go round style pony's saddles). Mostly I just grab a pony, yank out the hair, then dig through my box of custom hair to find something that matches....then figure out some sort of symbol to match the colors.
